Breakfast in Dubai?
Breakfast in Dubai? I made another French toasted grilled cheese & guacamole sandwich. My favorite! Dubai, first impressions, what a great expanding country! I'd move there if I could afford to. You? Watching the final round of the 1st Dubai PGA (?) golf championship. Andy

Breaking out the "Good" China?
It will be Thanksgiving in the U.S. on November 26th. Anyone planning to break out the "good" china? I fondly remember my mother never used her "good" china unless it was a holiday. (We also didn't get to eat real butter unless it was a holiday. And she always burned the dinner rolls, but that's another story LOL)... more »

What are your comfort foods?
Be it fried, roasted, slow-cooked or simply buried in fat, what are the things that you go to when you "have to"? Not the stuff that's best for you, but the stuff you want. I have a few: 1) Take-out or delivery pizza. It doesn't really matter what brand, but it typically involves either a "black olives and mushrooms" combo... more »

REC: Cincinatti Chili w/photos
I noticed a discussion about Cincy Chili so I had to give it a try. Luckily I had all the ingredients on hand. [link] I didn't have any ground cardamom, so I ground my own. [link] The recipe called for whole allspice. I wasn't about to dig around in... more »

Pork cutlets
For a Thanksgiving-weekend dinner I bought some pastured pork cutlets (still frozen). I normally buy pork rib chops from this producer, but they did not have them in the quantity I needed. These cutlets, which are from the back of the animal, are a convenient size (1/2 lb each) and are boneless, which is good in this case; they will be "marginally... more »

Ever See One Of These ??? (kitchen gadget)
Another eBayer has already identified it. [link] I'm wondering how old it is. Brillo and S.O.S disposable scouring pads were both introduced in 1917, so I think this item is likely to have become obsolete during the 1920's or 1930's. I wonder when they were last... more »
